CSISD students named Borlaug Scholars

To participate in the Texas Youth Institute, students researched a global issue related to food security and wrote a paper on the topic under the supervision of a teacher mentor.

On the day of the institute, students presented their research and proposals to a panel of judges and participants.

Shannon Gaines, a senior from College Station High School, focused on obesity in Tonga.  Lingyi "Joy" Fu, a junior from A&M Consolidated High School, researched climate volatility in Togo.  Melissa Yang, a junior from A&M Consolidated High School, proposed a solution to the water sanitation crisis in Ghana.

The students were mentored by teachers Erin Stutts, College Station High School, and Michelle Jedlicka, A&M Consolidated High School.
