College Station ISD is always looking for qualified substitute teachers. As CSISD grows, the need for substitute teachers also grows. In order to substitute for a teacher in CSISD, a four-year college degree is required, along with attendance at one Substitute Inservice. In order to substitute as a paraprofessional (e.g., teachers aide, secretary, clerk), a high school degree is required, and attendance at one Substitute Orientation is required.

What are the steps to becoming a substitute?

If you are a NEW substitute applicant:

1. Download, fill out and bring with you to an orientation the attached forms AND:

  • Your Drivers License - not a copy - must be original
  • Your Social Security Card - not a copy - must be original- required for payroll purposes
  • Direct Deposit Info- either a voided check or printout from your bank showing routing and account number
  • Degree Information- a copy of an official transcript showing a four year degree conferred OR
  • Education Majors- a copy of an official transcript showing at least 90 college credit hours AND a letter from your academic advisor stating that you are currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program.

If you will be substituting as a paraprofessional (teacher aide or clerical), a copy of your high school diploma.

If you are a RETURNING substitute applicant
(you worked for CSISD as a substitute during the 2009-2010 school year):

Download the attached set of forms, complete and return them to the HR office, Bldg C., 1812 Welsh St. You DO NOT have to attend Orientation this year!

Fingerprints:

All new substitutes must have fingerprints on file. If you have already been printed in an education capacity, and we are able to subscribe to your prints, you will be able to work after we receive all required paperwork.

If you have not been fingerprinted, you must submit fingerprints. There is a cost of approximately $55 paid by the substitute. The process can take approximately one week after all paperwork has been received by the HR office.

Fingerprinting will be discussed in detail at the Substitute Orientation.
