In accordance with Head Start standards and Policy Council recommendations, priority consideration is given to:
- Children whose parents receive TANF benefits through the Department of Human Services
- Children who have a diagnosed disability
- Children of single parents
- Children in a distressed situation (abuse, neglect, foster child)
A committee with parent representation evaluates applicants for qualification into the program.
There are 178 slots available in the Head Start Program. Classes are located on each elementary campus.
