What are the steps to becoming a substitute?
Steps to becoming a substitute:
1. Download, fill out and bring with you to the orientation the following:

A copy of an official transcript showing a four year degree conferred OR
-
A copy of an official transcript showing at least 90 college credit hours AND a letter from your academic advisor stating that you are currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program.
If you will be substituting as a paraprofessional (teachers aide or clerical), a copy of your high school diploma.
Returning Subs:
If you subbed for CSISD during the past school year, you need only download and fill out the W-4, Access to Records, Registration Form and Substitute Handbook.
2. Attend an Orientation
Please bring with you to the orientation the following:
- All completed forms as outlined above.
- Beneficiary information (instead of social security, the school district will be handling an alternative retirement plan for part-time, temporary and seasonal employees, including substitute teachers. Because the district will be paying money into an account for the employee, the employee will need to name a beneficiary for those funds. The beneficiary’s date of birth will be needed. Their social security number is optional.

A check that you have written “Void” on in order to enroll in automatic payroll deposit.
- Your Social Security Card and Drivers License.
