Timber students beneficiaries of reading grant

In partnership with College Station's Larry J. Ringer Public Library, CSISD’s Timber Academy is hosting a new series of book discussions this year.

Timber Academy, CSISD’s alternative high school, was recently selected to be the recipient of a three-part reading and discussion series called the "Great Stories CLUB” (Connecting Libraries, Underserved teen and Books).

College Station’s library was one of 150 libraries nationwide chosen to receive this grant from the American Library Association, through funding provided by Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network.

The program was created to provide teens with an opportunity to read and discuss books that are relevant to the challenges in their lives. Each title selected for the program relates to the theme, “second chances.”

Timber Academy will be attending book discussions at the library at least twice this spring semester. The kick-off event for the program was held January 26 at Timber Academy.
