This competitive process is the initial entry point for students qualifying for the Texas All-State Band.  Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of five judges who rank each musician. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their region to compete against musicians from other regions in TMEA area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the area competitions will qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group.
