Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends and take the time to reflect about the benefits of living and working in a growing and thriving community. A student body that increases in numbers almost daily, a faculty and staff with tremendous expertise, and a supportive parent and community base are just a few of the reasons we should reflect on the blessing of living and working where we do.
No doubt, CSISD is faced with some challenging decisions in the months ahead. Instructional Expectations. Curriculum Development. Instructional Programs. Extra-Curricular Programs. Budgets. Staffing. Assessment. Technology. There are an endless number of decisions that will need to be made that impact the work we do each day. I appreciate living and working in a place that values education and that takes seriously the responsibility of educating each child in order to prepare them for post-secondary education and the work force.
Based on the emails I receive about various issues, I can sometime lose perspective of the work we are doing in College Station ISD. Lest I forget, our primary focus is to teach students in interesting ways so that they learn the things we want them to learn, and to assess students so that we have a better understanding of how we can teach them. Along the way, CSISD wants to provide students with tremendous opportunities in clubs, activities, fine arts and athletics, and we want to make sure the academic and extra-curricular activities we provide build community minded students of character and integrity.
As you rest and relax with your friends and family this Christmas season, I hope you are able to dwell on the good fortune we have of living and working in a place like College Station.
