Reed named CSISD Director of Student Activities
A&M Consolidated High School Principal Ernest “Buddy” Reed was named the College Station ISD Director of Student Activities today by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eddie Coulson.
“As CSISD works to transition from one comprehensive high school to two, it is critical that the district support its students and staff who participate in band, orchestra, athletics, choir and all extra-curricular activities,” Coulson said. “More than ever, CSISD has a need for a coordinated effort in all of our programs in order to maximize opportunities for students and to align all extra-curricular programs.”
Reed has served as the AMCHS Principal since 2008, and will officially transition to his new position on February 2, 2012.
“I have truly enjoyed my time as the principal of A&M Consolidated High School,” Reed said. “I look forward to the unique opportunity of helping CSISD move to two comprehensive high schools and maintaining the high standards of our extra-curricular programs throughout this transition.”
Prior to being named the principal at AMCHS, Reed was the Superintendent at Lafourche Parish Schools in Thibodaux, La. The majority of Reed’s career was spent in the Ouachita Parish School District in Monroe, La., where he served stints as Principal and Assistant Principal at West Monroe High School and West Monroe Junior High School.
Reed received his Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education in 1973 and his Master’s in Educational Leadership in 1977, both from the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Current AMCHS Associate Principal Gwen Elder will serve as the interim high school principal. Elder has worked at AMCHS as a teacher, department chair, assistant principal and associate principal, and will be a candidate to be the permanent replacement for Reed.
Interim Athletic Director Sue Betts will resume her previous role as assistant athletic director.
