AMCHS musician selected to all-state choir

Ryan Kreider, a member of the A&M Consolidated High School Choir, recently was selected by the Texas State Music Educators Association to perform with the Texas All-State Mixed Choir.

The all-state choirs will perform on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2012 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.

Kreider was chosen for this honor through a competitive process held across the state at district, region and area levels.

All-state is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. More 1,500 students are selected through a process that began with more 60,000 students vying for the honor to perform in one of 13 ensembles (bands, orchestras and choirs).

High school students selected to perform in the all-state concerts have competed through several levels of auditions. This competitive process begins in auditions hosted by 28 TMEA regions, where selected musicians advance to seven area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group.

The all-state students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally-recognized conductors during the TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their performances for thousands of attendees bring this extraordinary event to a close.

Ryan sings at AMCHS under the direction of Travis Angel, who is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, an 11,000+ member organization. Ryan is the son of Richard and Wendy Kreider.
