Awards roll in for CSISD FFA members

A&M Consolidated FFA member Brianna Hubbard became the second $10,000 scholarship winner in recent weeks when she won Overall Grand Champion Percentage Boer goat doe at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.

David Rooney also recently won a $10,000 scholarship by winning first place in the zoology division of the San Antonio Livestock Show Agriscience contest.

In addition to the scholarship winners multiple other FFA members recently placed in events across the state.

Landscape Team placed fourth at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The AMCHS Landscape Design Team, composed of Nicole Albrect, Paige Littlefield, Hubbard and Kristen Kasper, placed fourth at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. 

The students planned a landscape around the theme "Texas Heritage" using plants from the Gulf Coast region.  The students prepared for the event by researching the selected plants, developing the layout, and drawing a planting plan and key.  The team had two hours on the day of the contest to install their landscape into a five-by-five planter.

Ag Mechanics Team wins awards at San Angelo and San Antonio

The AMCHS Agricultural Mechanics Team won multiple awards at the San Angelo and San Antonio Ag Mechanics shows.

In addition to constructing the projects, students had to assemble a project notebook complete with a CAD drawing, bill of materials, product information sheets and pictures identifying the various stages of construction.   The following awards were received by AMCHS FFA students:

16-foot utility trailer:  Blue Ribbon in San Antonio and Red Ribbon in San Angelo
Team members: Thomas Parlow, Alexis Roach, Dustin McGee, Mason Blackmon and Stephen Zissimos

10-foot utility trailer:  Blue Ribbon in San Antonio and Blue Ribbon in San Angelo
Team members: Dayton Sowders and Chantelle Earegood

10-foot utility trailer:  Blue Ribbon in San Antonio and Blue Ribbon in San Angelo
Team members:  Joshua Hailey, Braxton Bunner and Jeremy Wilson

10-foot utility trailer:  Blue Ribbon in San Antonio and Blue Ribbon in San Angelo
Team members:  Nathan Hosey, Travis Rooney, Aquil Lahzat and Mason Gold

Six-by-14-foot grain trailer:  Blue Ribbon in San Antonio and Blue Ribbon in San Angelo
Team members:  Calli McIntyre, Andrew Chambers, Matthew Brown, Jordan Wren, Dominic Simmons and Cameron Pitts

Six-by-10-foot stock trailer:  Blue Ribbon and 2nd Place in San Angelo and San Antonio
Team members:  Andrew Ramsey, Dustin Olexey, Claire Weaver, Austin Livingston, Tanner Slaten and Ryan Williams

16-foot entrance gate:  Blue Ribbon and 2nd place in San Angelo and Red Ribbon in San Antonio
