Seven CSISD BPA students qualify for nationals

Seven A&M Consolidated High School students recently qualified for the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference by placing at the state event.

In all, 29 students from AMCHS competed in several categories.  The following individuals qualified for nationals:

Jessie Wu - 1st, Fundamental Accounting
Ivy Lee - 2nd, Keyboarding Production
Jeffrey Steines - 2nd, Payroll Accounting,
Michelle Liu - 3rd, Fundamental Accounting
Nathan Guermond - 5th, C++ Programming

Additionally, the Financial Analyst Team (Steines, Eric Gan  and Kevin Li) advanced by placing second.

Steines became the first-ever AMCHS students to qualify for nationals in an individual and team event.

Ellie Chapkin, Kevin Li (individual event), Ryan Lawrence, Courtney Peters, Christina Haas, Ransom Synwolt, and Madeline Packard were selected as alternates in their respective events.

Others AMCHS competitors were: Kaley Brauer, Kara Slaughter, Kelly Zhou, Camille Aucoin, Olga Belyanina, Teresa deFigueiredo, Amanda Matthews, Samantha Wang, Jonathan Bradford, Lujain Elnihum, Lisa Maciques, Emily Miaou, Ryan Murphy, Cesia Sanchez, Rachel Scott, and Victoria Yao.

Kathy Fisher, Dianne Rister, Terri Casto, and Chris Fox served as advisors.

The national conference will be held in Chicago in April.
