Monday Message: We're Ready to Move!

August 6, 2012

CSISD Staff:

CSISD is ready for  the 2012-2013 school year!  We’ll officially begin the year on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the We’re Ready to Move Rally.  The Rally will begin at 8:30 AM at Central Baptist Church.  At the Rally you will be challenged and inspired by some amazing CSISD staff members and students to stretch your view of education and the role CSISD plays in the lives of students and the community.

Is it possible to customize an education for each child in CSISD?   How does CSISD maintain its position as the district of choice in a market that is increasingly morecompetitive?  How can CSISD move outside the ‘one-size-fits-all’ mentality that seems to dominate those that are attempting to reform public education?  Is a single STAAR test score the best way to evaluate students, schools, and school districts?  If a test score is not reliable, what is?

These are but a few of the questions that CSISD is asking.  It’s clear to me that CSISD must continue to establish a system of education that is built on a solid curriculum, supported by well- designed instruction and assessed in ways far beyond what any single test might be able to tell us. And, we must have a system that creates a safe environment for learning that encourages risk-taking, promotes analytical and problem solving skills, develops communication skills and challenges even our brightest students.

The work in CSISD is not for the faint of heart.  It’s for those willing to move forward with their thinking, for those willing to put their nose to the grindstone and for those willing to push and pull on ideas and strategies that will propel the district forward.

I look forward to seeing you on August 17.

Success.

PS:  Plan to arrive at Central Baptist Church in plenty of time so you can be seated in the sanctuary and ready to go at 8:30.  There’s plenty of parking; however, carpooling is encouraged in order to reduce the amount of traffic around the church.  And, remember, no food or drinks in the sanctuary.
