COLLEGE STATION , Texas – The College Station ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday, August 21.  The following discussions and actions are of note.

2012-2013 Budget Discussion:  Deputy Superintendent for Human Resources and Business Services Glynn Walker presented a final draft of the 2012-13 budget to the board.  Due to reduced state funding, CSISD has reduced its budget by $4.7 million over the last two years.  CSISD will run a planned budget deficit of approximately $4.6 million in 2012-13 due to the opening of College Station High School.  The deficit will be covered by using a portion of the district’s fund balance, or savings account.

The overall tax rate to fund the 2012-13 budget will stay the same as 2011-12 rate of $1.33 per $100 of evaluation.  The maintenance and operation portion of the tax rate will be $1.04  and the debt services portion will be $0.29.

In the regular meeting following the workshop and public hearing, the board unanimously approved the 2012-13 budget and tax rate.

The CSISD Board of Trustees held a public forum to hear public comment regarding the proposed district budget and tax rate for the 2012-13 school year.  There was no public comment.
