Consol students earn gold medal at national FCCA event

The duo competed in the Life Event Planning competition against approximately 70 other teams from around the United States.

This particular competition called for them to create and plan every detail of a hypothetical charity banquet.  Slaughter and Shepherd’s event was called “Inspiring a Cure” and they planned a banquet for 300 guest to benefit the Susan G Komen Foundation.  The banquet plans included a fashion show, auction and dinner.

They  planned every detail of the event including the location, menu, and entertainment, while keeping a cost-friendly budget in mind.

They worked for months  to make the event as realistic as possible and took first place at the FCCLA State Competition in Dallas in April before advancing to nationals.

AMCHS FCCLA chapter advisers are Clarissa Riedel, Erin Stutts, Kayla Poe, Janet Peterson and Monica Smith.
