A new piece of art hangs in the entry way of Oakwood Intermediate School and welcomes its students, faculty, and visitors. Bright blue, yellow and purple swirls sweep over panels that make up "Oakwood Starry Night.” Members of the Oakwood Art Club created the piece after studying Van Gogh's famous painting, "Starry Night,” during the 2011-12 school year. A grant from the CSISD Education Foundation funded supplies of canvases and acrylic paint for students to make several pieces of art for their school. In this piece chosen for the entry way, a unique interpretation of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" meets views of Oakwood and highlights of the Texas A&M campus.
Pictured from left to right, Noah Smith and Zac Hassan, are two young men who helped create this piece and their art teacher, Mindy Austin.
