CSHS student places fourth in state cooking event

In the mystery basket competition, students are given surprise ingredients and must prepare a composed dish in 90 minutes.

For this competition, the mystery ingredients were steak and mango. Holden prepared a pan-seared steak with a balsamic reduction, potato medallions, and a mango and celery summer salad with a citrus vinaigrette.

Competing against mostly juniors and seniors who are enrolled in upper-level culinary classes, Holden placed fourth out of 13 competitors as a first-year culinary student.
