The administrative support team of Amanda Matthews, Samantha Wang, Jessie Wu and Kelly Zhou placed second out of approximately 40 teams. Zhou also placed third out of 60 competitors in the database applications contest.
The administrative support team is given a number of jobs to do in the four different applications of the Microsoft Office Suite -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. They divide the jobs per their expertise and coordinate with each other throughout the 90-minute contest. The team is to function as an office staff to produce a variety of documents.
In the database applications contest, students use Microsoft Access to demonstrate database development skills including, object creation, data analysis, formula creation, and reporting features used in a variety of database scenarios. Also, the students must take the Microsoft Office Certification exam as part of this contest.
Brooke Cohen also qualified for, and competed at nationals by placing at the top of her respective event at the state leadership conference held in March.
