Oakwood sixth graders earn award for video game creation

Travis McAleer, Shiva Saravanan and Eric Zhang created a three-part series entitled, "Assault of the Germs."

”With 335 video game submissions from over 65 schools, the competition was tough this year,” concluded this year’s panel of judges.

One school from each elementary, intermediate and high school level was chosen as the winner and 12  teams were chosen as honorable mention.

The goal of Green Ribbon Schools is to help students become healthier, happier and smarter and the Healthivores video game contest requires students to create a video game that teaches about an aspect of physical health.

The students have submitted their game series for the “Game of the Year” fan rating contest.  They are currently ranked in 10th place.  Winners of this contest will each receive a laptop computer for themselves and their school.
