Note: This is an overview of some of the agenda items on the October board workshop and meeting. This recap does not include every item on the agendas. Official meeting minutes will be made available on www.csisd.org following approval at the October board meeting.
Community-based accountability system: The board discussed the merits of providing the community with additional measures of accountability, as opposed to relying solely on the current state accountability system. The board began the conversation about what overarching principles and measures are of great value to the CSISD community in last month’s workshop. Over the next few months, the board will continue to discuss what metrics and indicators a community-based accountability system might include.
Receive report on FIRST rating: CSISD received a perfect score on all indicators and a superior rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2011-12 school year. The purpose of the financial accountability rating system (Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 19, § 109.1001) is to ensure that school districts and open-enrollment charter schools will be held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources.
Instruction Day Waiver: The board approved a missed instructional day waiver to the Texas Education Agency for Friday, September 13, 2013, for Southwood Valley Elementary School. Southwood Valley experienced a water main leak that day, causing the cancellation of school for a day.
