The goal of Big Art Day is to raise awareness of art and art education as a creative force in Texas communities.
Sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), Big Art Day looks to engage all art educators, their students and communities in a single day art event, and to celebrate March as Youth Art Month.
Students in the CSISD Art programs will be creating fiber works in order to "yarn bomb" areas of each school. Yarn bombing is a form of graffiti art created by Houston artist Magda Sayeg that has gained international acclaim. The activity involves covering public areas with knitted or crocheted works of art.
The community is invited to participate in their school's yarn bombing event. Please contact any of the CSISD art teachers for more information.
