CSISD students perform well on state’s accountability system

“We are pleased that CSISD students performed well on these state mandated assessments, but we know that test performance is only one measure of success for our students,” CSISD Superintendent Dr. Clark Ealy said. “Our campuses will use these results, as well as other performance data, to help us design rigorous, relevant and engaging learning for our students.”

This is the second year of ratings under a new accountability system established by the Texas Legislature in 2011.  Most schools earn ratings of “Met Standard” or “Improvement Required.”  Some alternative and charter schools can earn a “Met Alternative Standard” as they are under different standards in the system

The state accountability rankings are derived from four indices in the following areas:

  • Index 1: Student Achievement - the overall STAAR passing rate for all students and student groups in all subjects

  • Index 2: Student Progress - the improvement in student scores from one year to the next

  • Index 3: Closing Performance Gaps – student performance in the two lowest performing student groups, plus economically disadvantaged students

  • Index 4: Postsecondary Readiness – a combination of four measures: percentage of students earning advanced academic performance on STAAR; graduation rates; percentage of students earning college ready designations in ELA and Math; and percentage of students graduating under the Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program

Additionally, CSISD campuses earned a total of 31 distinctions in the state accountability system, including:

  • Reading/ELA (8 distinctions):  AMCHS, AMCMS, Creek View, Forest RIdge, Pebble Creek, Rock Prairie, South Knoll, and Southwood Valley

  • Math (6 distinctions):  AMCHS, CSHS, AMCMS, Creek View, Forest Ridge, and Rock Prairie

  • Science (3 distinctions):  AMCHS, CSHS, and AMCMS

  • Social Studies (2 distinctions):  AMCHS and CSHS

  • Student Progress (4 distinctions):  AMCMS, Oakwood, Forest Ridge, and Rock Prairie

  • Closing the Performance Gap (1 distinction):  CSHS  

  • Postsecondary Readiness (7 distinctions):  AMCHS, CSHS, AMCMS, Forest Ridge, Pebble Creek, Rock Prairie, and Southwood Valley
