Established in 2006, the Arts Council Arts Champion award recognizes the dedication of one individual to improving lives in the Brazos Valley through the arts.
Bevans has enjoyed guiding and nurturing youth and teen artists for more than twenty-five year as an educator. Through her tireless work and dedication to the arts, Jami has positively impacted the lives of countless youth in our community.
A member of Texas Art Education Association for more than twenty years, Jami now serves on the board as treasurer. She is a longtime member of Brazos Valley Art Education Association and is currently the Region VI Visual Art Scholastic Event director.
In her capacity as an art educator she has sponsored Art Club and National Art Honor Society, helping students reach out to the community through various service projects including painting mile markers for the BCS Marathon, painting cigarette receptacles for Keep Brazos Beautiful and creating art for Empty Bowls. Jr.
During the summer months Jami continues her work in the arts, serving on the Blue Ribbon Board for Texas Art Education Association and lending her artistic talents as a set and prop designer for Camp Narnia, a fine arts camp at Christ United Methodist Church in College Station.
Jami also shares her creative talents as an artist with art lovers in the Brazos Valley through her role as Artistic Director for Flair magazine.
