Ian Tremblay, Tara De Leon and Michaela Cheyne became the first AMCHS senior skills team to advance to state.
In this contest, a team of three to five members performs an actual demonstration of an agricultural skill using effective public speaking and communication methods.
The team taught and demonstrated the proper use of oxy-acetylene and oxy-propane equipment in front of three judges within a 20-minute time period. During the demonstration, they detailed all equipment used, safety precautions and proper procedures.
The state Leadership Development contest will be held Friday, December 5, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
Teams qualify for the area contest by placing first or second at the district contest. Three other teams/individuals advanced to area, but will not continue on to state. Those include:
FFA Quiz Team - 9th Place: Ian Tremblay, Aaron Crum, Kayla Hanson & Dustin Moreau
Agricultural Advocacy Team - 12th Place: Katie Funderberg, Kayla Wallace, Haley Groff
Senior Creed Speaking - 13th Place: Katie Woodworth
