The team of Ian Tremblay, Tara De Leon and Michaela Cheyne demonstrated the proper use of oxy-acetylene and oxy-propane equipment to cut half-inch steel. The team had 20 minutes to demonstrate and teach this skill to the three judges.
A total of 20 senior skills teams advanced to the state competition by placing first or second at the 10 area competitions across Texas. To advance to area, teams needed to place first or second at their respective district competition.
Texas has more than 106,000 FFA members and less than one percent advance to the state FFA LDE contest.
