About 1.4 million juniors in about 22,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2015 scholarship program by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).


In September, the nationwide pool of semifinalists was released, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.


Approximately 90% of the 16,000 semifinalists were named finalists and will compete for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth a total of $33 million.


In all, 1.4 million juniors in 22,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2015 scholarship program by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Scholarship winners for 2014 will be announced in a series of press releases beginning in April and concluding in May.
