Note: This is an overview of some of the items on the October board workshop and meeting agendas. This recap does not include every item on the agendas. Official meeting minutes will be made available on www.csisd.org following approval at the November board meeting. A video and audio recording of the workshop and meeting will be made available within seven days of the meeting at csisd.org.
Class-Size Waiver for College Hills Elementary: The board approved a class-size waiver for the fourth grade at College Hills Elementary. The Texas Education Code allows school districts to request class-size waivers when class enrollment in elementary schools exceed 22 students in a grade level at a campus. CSISD will add a teacher’s aide to the first grade at College Hills instead of adding an additional classroom teacher due to the fact that there is no empty classroom space available at the school. Last month, the board approved a waiver for the first grade at College Hills Elementary.
Approved Guaranteed Maximum Price for Middle School No. 3: The board approved the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the work associated with the construction of the district’s third middle school.
The GMP for the project was based on responses to a request for competitive sealed bid proposals. In consultation with CSISD and VLK Architects, Pepper Lawson Construction has reviewed the final scope of work, reputation of subcontractors, quality of materials specified and other relevant factors in arriving at a GMP for this project. The guaranteed maximum price from Pepper-Lawson General Contractors for this project is $43,488,226. The total project budget is $51,370,000, which was also the planning amount for the middle school project approved by voters in November 2015.
