CSISD Salary Study Presentation: Luz Cadena, Senior Compensation Consultation with the Texas Association of School Boards, presented the results of a salary study done this past fall and early spring.
The study had three main components, including data collection, market pay review, and to provide models for improvement to consider when budgeting and determining salary adjustments for the 2017-18 school year and beyond.
The study analyzed local school districts and local market employers, as well as a few school districts not in the area but that were determined to have some of the same characteristics as CSISD.
The information from the study will be one tool to help determine salary adjustments during the budgeting process for the 2017-18 school year.
According to the study, potential areas to address include starting teacher salaries, technology professionals, stipends for bilingual teachers, and entry pay rates for instructional aides, custodial staff and child nutrition workers.
2016-17 Budget Discussion: Deputy Superintendent for Business and Operations Mike Martindale made an initial presentation regarding the development of the 2017-18 budget.
The board reviewed staffing and budgeting priorities for 2017-18 and were presented with the first draft revenue and expenditure numbers. These initial numbers reflect an overall deficit budget of $5,413,101.
CSISD will continue to review staffing and budget requests, monitor and adjust revenue projections according to results of the legislative session and update expenditure projections over the next four months. The 2017-18 budget and tax rate will be adopted at the August board meeting.
