District of Innovation: The CSISD board received a report from Dr. Clark Ealy regarding the district’s timeline and next steps for becoming a District of Innovation.
The next step in the process is a public meeting of the District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) to consider the final version of the plan. Pending approval by the DEIC, the board will take action on the final version of the plan at the November 14 meeting.
In previous meetings, the board adopted a resolution to allow CSISD administration to explore becoming a District of Innovation and appointed the DEIC as the designated committee to write the District of Innovation Plan for CSISD.
The Texas Legislature passed HB 1842 in 2015, allowing public school districts to obtain the designation of District of Innovation and to gain exemption from certain Texas education codes.
