CSISD seeks feedback regarding rebranding of middle schools

In 2016, the Board went through an extensive process to redraw attendance boundaries to accommodate our third intermediate and middle schools and to adjust the high school attendance lines for greater comparability.

The process included an outside facilitator, district demographer and a community committee.  Following the committee’s recommendation, the Board then further examined the issue before adopting new school zones.  Schools zones took effect this school year for intermediate and high schools and will take effect for middle schools in August 2018 with the opening of Wellborn Middle School.

These new attendance boundaries were drawn in such a way that all three middle schools (AMCMS, CSMS and Wellborn MS) will send some of their students to AMCHS and some to CSHS.

Last year in response to community feedback on all three middle schools splitting into both high schools, the Board wanted to come back and discuss the possibility of giving our current middle schools (AMCMS and CSMS) an identity that was not tied directly to a high school.  For example, if half of the students from CSMS are going to attend Consol, how wise is it for them to be in a school with the same colors and virtually the same logo and mascot as CSHS?

Please take the survey at the link below to provide feedback regarding rebranding the two current middle schools.
