CSISD received a perfect score on all indicators and a superior rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2015-16 school year.  The purpose of the financial accountability rating system (Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 19, § 109.1001) is to ensure that school districts and open-enrollment charter schools will be held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources.

Middle School Branding:  The board ended several months of discussion regarding middle school rebranding by approving the development of individual middle school identities by changing the colors and mascots for A&M Consolidated Middle School and College Station Middle School.

Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, CSISD will have three middle schools feeding into two comprehensive high schools.

District of Innovation:  The board approved the district’s District of Innovation Plan.

In previous meetings, the board adopted a resolution to allow CSISD administration to explore becoming a District of Innovation and appointed the District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) as the designated committee to write the District of Innovation Plan for CSISD.

In addition, the DEIC approved the final version of the plan during a posted and public meeting.

The Texas Legislature passed HB 1842 in 2015, allowing public school districts to obtain the designation of District of Innovation and to gain exemption from certain Texas education codes.
