The College Station ISD Education Foundation dedicated its inaugural Wall of Honor to celebrate the community’s record support of its Annual Partnering Opportunities Campaign to the tune of over $200,000. Education Foundation Board Members and CSISD leadership staff gathered in the district’s new boardroom to show gratitude and recognize over 60 key donors.
“This donor wall of honor has been a dream of mine for several years,” said CSISD Education Foundation Executive Director Teresa Benden. “We have such tremendous support from our community and we really wanted a way to permanently express our gratitude. We tried a different approach to fundraising this year. Rather than donors just sponsoring an event, we wanted to educate them about all our initiatives and have them generally support the Foundation.”
Seven contributors increased their giving to donate at the top “$10,000 Founder Level” this year: Caldwell Country Chevrolet, CC Creations, CHI St. Joseph Health, Copy Corner, Culpepper Realty Co., H-E-B, and Rife & Beddingfeld, Attorneys at Law. These funds spearheaded many others to join in so that the Education Foundation can make a big impact on local CSISD schools.
One of the biggest impacts is the Education Foundation’s innovative teacher grant program. In the fall, The Foundation awarded over $137,000 in grants which encompassed exciting entrepreneurial projects, robotics and engineering missions, outdoor gardens, charitable giving leadership opportunities, broadcasting through podcasting, music development, and creative writing. The Foundation also will award almost $60,000 in student scholarships this May to CSISD graduating seniors.
Established in 1999, the College Station ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) public corporation. Tax-deductible gifts made to the foundation provide funds for opportunities above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school district which are not available through tax revenues. Its mission is to seek funds and award those funds to students and teachers to bring innovation and excellence to the classroom and to provide opportunities not available through general funding.
