CSISD academic teams place at UIL state meet

Highlighting the group of students from A&M Consolidated High School and College Station High School was Consol’s Shiva Saravanan, who won the state championship in spelling and vocabulary.  In addition, Saravanan placed third individually in current issues and events.

CSHS’s Shelby Smith placed third as an individual in the ready writing competition.

In the team events, the CSHS current issues and events team of Robert Dohrman, Azaan Jamal, Mark Cahill and Srinidhi Narayanan and the AMCHS math team of Selena Li, Shiva Saravanan, Bill Wang, and Eric Gan each placed third.

The CSHS science team of Yaxin Duan, Amy Hu, Sayuni Dharmasena and Ioannis Pistikopoulos each placed fourth.

Points are accumulated in each event to comprise the team standings.  Currently, AMCHS is in 14th place in the state 5A team competition and still has several members of the speech and debate team to compete later this month.  Speech and debate points count toward the team academic UIL championship point totals.
