LEAP is the elementary disciplinary alternative education program serving ages 6 through 6th grade students from College Hills Elementary, Creek View Elementary, Forest Ridge Elementary, Greens Priarie Elementary, Pebble Creek Elementary, Rock Prairie Elementary, South Knoll Elementary, Southwood Valley Elementary, Cypress Grove Intermediate and Oakwood Intermediate.
Academics, behavior, and social skills are emphasized. Students work on assignments prepared by home campus teachers, as well as assignments designed by LEAP staff that emphasize social and behavioral skills.
LEAP teachers work with home campuses to provide interventions prior to, during and after a student's assignment to LEAP.
Assignment lengths are 30 days for the first placement and 60 days for an additional placement. Students may earn days for being successful in the LEAP Classroom. Extenuating circumstances may result an adjustment in assignment length.
A parent or guardian must bring the student to an intake meeting before they begin their first day at LEAP in order to fill out necessary paperwork as well as review the procedures and expectations for the program. Transportation is provided in the mornings and afternoons for those students needed it. The LEAP staff will also meet with the parent or guardian as well as home campus staff to develop a plan for transitioning back to their home campus before the end of the student's placement, to ensure the best chance for student success.
Successful components of this program include regular parent interaction with our staff and daily student evaluations, as well as a level system and positive reinforcers in a structured setting.
The Federal breakfast/lunch program is available to our students.
Student hours are 8:30- 3:15pm.
Students are expected to abide by the LEAP Student Handbook, College Station ISD Student Code of Conduct and School Board policies.
