Proof of Residency Requirements

In order to ensure that CSISD resources are being utilized for students who reside in CSISD, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, all students in the following categories will be required to provide proof of residency:

  • All new students to CSISD
  • Returning CSISD students that will be incoming 5th, 7th, and 9th graders
  • Returning students with a change of address
  • For the 2019-2020 school year, we will also require proof of residency for incoming 10th graders

Under Texas Education Code §25.001(b)(1), a student is entitled to admission if the student and either parent reside in the district. This document provides information on the documents needed to help prove residency requirements. If you are unable to provide the requested documents, please discuss the matter with your child's school. Proof of Residency is required because residency determines the school of attendance. Please note that the enrollment process will not be complete until this documentation is received by your child’s campus.

For students living with other families, the student's parent and the person with whom the student is living must come to Director of Student Services' office at the CSISD administration building to complete an Affidavit of Residency and/or a Special Power of Attorney. The person with whom they live will be required to show proof of residency.

Parents and guardians of returning students can provide proof of residency in one of the following ways:

  • Uploading through the online registration process
  • Emailing it to your child’s campus registrar (see list of email addresses below)
  • Handing in to the front office of your child's current campus

Acceptable Proof of Residence:

In the name of the parent or guardian:
  • Current gas, electricity or water bill
  • Current Cable or DirectTV bill
  • Residential rental/lease agreement

Unacceptable Proof of Residence:

  • U.S. mail
  • Post office change of address
  • Credit card/bank statements
