Chief Financial Officer Mike Martindale was named Interim Superintendent, effective February 3, announced the CSISD Board of Trustees at its special meeting on January 8.

Martindale was given the interim label by the board following Dr. Clark Ealy being officially confirmed as the Superintendent of Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD on January 7.  Ealy, CSISD’s top-ranking administrator since June 2014, will begin his new role in the Northeast San Antonio suburbs on February 3.

“Mr. Martindale has shown tremendous leadership in his position as deputy superintendent and is very involved with all the initiatives and work within College Station ISD and our community,” CSISD Board President Michael Schaefer said.  “I think Dr. Ealy has done an exceptional job of hiring great leaders, and we are fortunate as a school district to have an amazing staff in place.”

The board will continue discussion regarding the selection process to name the new superintendent.

Martindale has been the district’s deputy superintendent and CFO since January 2016.  Prior to that, he was the first principal at College Station High School and was responsible for the opening of the school in 2012.  Martindale was hired by CSISD in 2007 as the principal of Rock Prairie Elementary.

Martindale has twenty-nine years of experience in public education with six and a half years of central office experience, including his tenure as deputy superintendent and CFO in CSISD and serving as Superintendent of Schools in Florence ISD and Director of Secondary Education in Angleton ISD.

Additionally, he has sixteen total years of principal experience from Angleton ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, and College Station ISD, where he has served at the elementary, intermediate, and high school levels.

He began his career in education as a math teacher at Angleton High School in 1991.

A 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University, Martindale earned his Bachelor of Science with teaching certifications in math and physical education.  In 1996, he earned his Master’s of Education in Administration from the University of Houston - Clear Lake.  In 2005, he received his Superintendent’s Certification from the University of Houston - Victoria.

Martindale and his wife Alicia, who is a Spanish teacher at Wellborn Middle School, have two children.  His daughter Ava is a freshman at College Station High School and his son Cooper is a seventh grader at Wellborn Middle School.
