COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The College Station ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday, February 18.  The following discussions and actions are of note.

WORKSHOP

Presentation regarding Teacher Incentive Allotment:  Chief Administrative Officer Molley Perry gave the board an initial presentation regarding the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).  The TIA is part of House Bill 3, and provides school districts resources to increase teacher compensation and prioritize funding for rural and high-need campuses.

A vast majority of the process and mechanism the district will use should it decide to participate in the program will be determined over the next two years.  CSISD has indicated to the state that if it participates, it will be part of “Cohort D” which would not receive funding from the state until the spring or fall of 2023.  More than 90% of districts who have indicated they may pursue TIA will be in “Cohort D” due to the extensive planning and preparation necessary to implement this system.

A major portion of the planning will be the development of a system to determine teacher designation, which will need to be approved by the Texas Education Agency as well as Texas Tech University.  Additionally, significant stakeholder feedback will be required in the development of the plan.

REGULAR MEETING

Approval of Policy FDA (local) -- participation for non-resident students for certain CTE programs at College View High School:  The board approved amendments to Policy FDA (local), which now allows students who live outside of CSISD boundaries to enroll in the district and attend the fire sciences career and technical program at College View High School.
