The College Station HS FFA chapter received a three-star ranking from the National FFA Association and earned two top 10 national recognitions in innovative activities.

The three-star ranking is the highest an FFA chapter can receive and CSHS pair FFA top-10 innovation activities came in two of only three categories.

The top ten chapters in each category receive a National FFA Premier Chapter Award plaque. Of those top ten in each division, a top premier chapter will be chosen in each division. Only 3-star chapters are eligible for premier chapter awards.

In the “Growing Leaders” category, CSHS students participated in “Adulting 101: Real World Workshops.”  The purpose of the Real World Workshop were to improve the potential of FFA members as they prepare for adult life. Students rotated through three stations where they changed a tire, practiced the Heimlich maneuver, and created a real-life budget.

In the Strengthening Agriculture category, students and their families learned grilling safety in an activity called “Grilling 101: Call your Friends NOT 911.”  Participant activities included fire extinguisher use, safely using charcoal and gas grills, and using a thermometer to determine the temperature of meat.

As a national top 10 recipient in each of these categories, CSHS FFA officers will present virtually this fall in hopes of being selected as the Top Premier Chapter in one of those divisions.

CSHS FFA advisors are Sheridan Clinkscales, Rodney Martine and Erin Stutts.
