Two-Way Dual Language (English)

Bilingual Program Brochure

CSISD Implements the Bilingual One-way and Two-way Dual Language Programs:

College Station Independent School District's Bilingual Education Program begins with one-way dual language in Head Start and PK. For students in grades K-6, CSISD implements a two-way dual language program model.

The one-way dual language program offers Pre-Kinder and Head Start native Spanish speaking students a learning environment rich in the development and strengthening of their Spanish native language.  The goal of the one-way dual language program is to help prepare PK and HS students with a strong primary language foundation for academic success in kindergarten and beyond.

The program is based on a 90/10 model, in which 90% of the instruction is delivered in Spanish and 10% is delivered in English.

The two-way dual language program offers Kinder – 6th grade native Spanish speaking students and native English speaking students the exciting opportunity to become bilingual in English and in Spanish. The goals of the two-way dual language program are to produce learners who are bilingual, with literacy in both languages, and who understand and feel at ease in different cultural settings. It is a partial immersion program for English speakers, as well as a bilingual program for Spanish speakers.

In this program, students will develop oral and cognitive academic language proficiency in English and in Spanish while mastering grade level knowledge and skills in the content areas.

The program is based on a 50/50 model, in which 50% of the instruction is delivered in English and the other 50% is delivered in Spanish.

This program is designed to teach children a second language in a natural way, through content instruction and everyday conversations.

The dual language programs are located at the following campuses:
