School Closures
Delaying or canceling school is a complicated decision that affects students, staff and families. College Station ISD considers a variety of factors when considering canceling or delaying school:
- The safety and well-being of students and staff;
- Severity of the weather (extreme cold, flooding, etc.);
- Timing of weather (overnight, weekend, etc.); and
- The ability for buses and cars to travel safely
In the event of inclement weather, CSISD continually monitors the forecast from the National Weather Service, corresponds with local officials, and collaborates with various administrators in order to make the best decision for students, staff and families. Staff members work throughout the evening and early morning each severe weather day to ensure that buses will run at or near schedule and that students will be safe.
We understand that decisions to delay or close school have a real impact on students and families. Whenever changes are necessary, we will share information as early as possible through this page and our official district communication channels to help families plan accordingly.
We notify families via:
- CSISD website (csisd.org);
- E-mail, phone and/or text message;
- Mass media, including TV and radio; and
- Social media
Parents can help by making sure their contact information, as well as emergency contact information, is regularly updated with their child's school.
