FAQs

• Your student’s counselor will send you a google parent form to complete.  This will need to be completed prior to the registration deadline.  If this is not completed, we will not be able to order any of the tests.
• The district office will process all test requests after the registration deadline is complete.  If there is more information that is needed to order the test, we will reach out to you then.  You will receive an email once the test has been ordered.
• Due to the number of CBE tests orders we receive, we do not have the capability to email verifications for every test that has been received from the counselors to be ordered.
• First tests will be ordered one to two weeks prior to the testing window opening.

• All first attempt test(s) ordered through the District are covered by the District.  Please note that if any test(s) ordered and not taken in the testing window or canceled after the test has been ordered, will be charged via the student’s InTouch.
• Any second attempt will be ordered by the parents via UTHS or TTU and will be charged the cost of that test by the vendor.

• If your child did not pass the CBE, they can take a second attempt, but they must wait until the next TEA testing window. Per TEA, second attempts are not accepted in the same TEA testing window.  The TEA testing window is January-March, April-June, July -September and October - December.  The cost of the second attempt is not covered or ordered by the district.
• UTHS and TTU offer second attempt versions of their exams. CSISD only accepts the second attempt versions.
• All second attempts must be signed off on by CSISD (counselor or district).  Please email the UTHS or TTU application to cbe@csisd.org for an approval signature during the summer months.

Since all second attempts are ordered by the parents and not the district, you do not need to order it by the registration deadline.  The registration deadline is only for tests ordered by the district.  You will need to mind the TEA testing window though. Only one attempt is allowed in the TEA testing window.  Please see our Second Attempt page for more information.

• The TEA requires each district to provide testing time within set testing windows. The TEA testing window is January-March, April-June, July -September and October - December.   Our testing window changes each year.  For our most recent testing window, please see the Registration, Testing Schedule, & Proctoring page.

• If you are canceling prior to the registration deadline, please email your counselor the request to cancel.  They can then forward this information to our office if they have already completed their portion. 
• If it is after the registration deadline, you will need to email cbe@csisd.org to cancel the exam(s).  If we have already placed the order for the exam with our vendor, you will then be charged via InTouch for the cost of the exam.

• The counselors will send a google form for the parents to complete after they have verified that a test can be ordered.  On this google form, you will supply an email address for the test to be ordered for.  This email cannot be the student's CSISD email and cannot be used for a previous sibling. 

• CSISD will collect all the data needed by the Vendor to order the test after the registration deadline has passed.  Tests will then be ordered approx 1-2 weeks prior to the testing window to open.  If you receive your test prior to the CSISD testing window opening, you must wait until the CSISD testing window opens to start the test.  Please reference our testing schedule to make sure you stay on top of the testing deadlines for each testing window.

• All tests must follow the CSISD testing windows. UTHS has an automatic expiration date of 60 days after the test has been ordered.  This does not follow our testing windows. 

• Grades K-2, and grades 3-12 with documented oral accommodation, are proctored in our office.  You will receive an email from cbe@csisd.org with testing opportunities.  CBEs for languages other than English will still be administered online even if the student has a documented oral accommodation.  There is no paper copy of this test.
• Grade 3 tests and above (without a document oral administration accomodation) are online. The testing sessions are videoed, so there is not a live proctor on the other end. Once the test is completed, a faculty member of UTHS will review the video for any test irregularities. Since the CBE is videoed, you may whenever it is convenient for you, any day at any time.
• UTHS Resource - This is full of helpful information, such as; what technology is necessary for testing, a student video demo (no sound), how to troubleshoot during testing, and much more.

• No, CISISD does not have any study guides that we have created.  UTHS and TTU have their own study guides that can be found on their website.  Please see the Study Guides page for more information.

• No, CSISD will not provide transportation to other campuses for students that have tested out of a course.  This transportation will have to be provided by the parents and will have to fit into their school schedule.

• Extra Time - Extra time accommodations can be provided with the online and in person testing.
• Oral or Text to Speech - All CBEs, other than High School Language Other Than English, will be on paper in person at our Central Office.  The online exams do not have text to speech options.

• UTHS: At the end of the CBE you may get a message with your unofficial score. For most exams it takes 3-5 days for official scores to appear.  During peak season (the Spring testing window) it can take up to 2 weeks for official scores to appear.  They will be accessible on your Canvas dashboard. Any additional tests cannot be ordered until official scores have been added to the dashboard.

• CSISD Proctored Tests: You will receive an email from cbe@csisd.org once we have received the results.

• Since we bulk order for hundreds of students, we do not order part B or second tests individually. For each testing window there are dates throughout the testing window where we will check scores. We need official passing results before we can order the second tests. We will have the second order ready for the next business day; however, UTHS may still take up to 5 days to process this follow up order, so please pay attention to the testing deadlines.

• No, these are secured tests and are kept confidential with the testing company as required by state policy.  Neither the Vendor or CSISD has access to these tests.  All we can see is the official score.

• Yes, high school credit courses will have an A test for the fall semester and a B test for the spring semester.  Both A and B have to receive a passing score to receive credit for the whole course. 

• Please see the attached CSISD Board Policy regarding how CBEs count towards the GPA.

• Yes.  Your school counselor will have access to the results as soon as we get them.  They will have access to all the results prior to the start of school so they can take them into consideration when creating your students' school schedule.

• UTHS is the vendor for all tests except Math 7A. They use a Canvas format to deliver the CBEs as well as the grade results. Once the order has been processed by UTHS, you will receive an email from Instructure Canvas with directions to set up your Canvas account. This is where you will access your CBE.
• TTU is the vendor for Math 7A tests.  They will send all documentation to you via email.   This will include instructions to access the test.

• You can start by going to the site directly (https://uths.instructure.com/) and log in.  If you have not created a password, please select “forgot password” and a link will be sent to the email on file for the test and set up a password.  If there is no test in the dashboard once you log in, please email cbe@csisd.org and we can look into it based on when the test was ordered.

• No, only UTHS has access to that platform.  Please contact them for technical issues.  512-232-5000 or UTHSrequestCBE@austin.utexas.edu.
  • Technical issues include: Access codes, the test isn’t showing up, issues logging on to the site, the site kicked me out of the test before I could finish

• Please email cbe@csisd.org with what needs to be changed.  We will reach out to UTHS or TTU with the changes and we will make all corrections on CBE records in our office also. 

• One of the modules is full of testing tips. Students must test alone in the testing environment, so this is especially helpful for younger students.

• Your child’s school counselor will be your first point of contact.  They will have all the information needed to start the process and also be able to review your child’s schedule to let you know the best steps.  
• Any general CBE questions can be directed to cbe@csisd.org.  For student specific questions, please contact your student’s counselor.

The Advanced Academics office doesn’t handle any of the class scheduling.  These questions should be directed toward your student's school counselor.
