Second Attempt Policy 

Can a student take a second attempt if they do not pass a credit by exam the first time?

Yes, with the following restrictions:

Texas Administrative Code states that students:

• may not attempt to test out of a course more than two times and
• may not attempt a test twice during the same assessment window

 

The 25-26 School Year CSISD testing windows are :  

Fall: November 1 - December 10 (Students testing in this window cannot attempt the second attempt until the Winter window).

Winter: February 1 - March 13 (Students testing in this window cannot attempt the second attempt until the Spring window).

Spring: April 1 - May 17 (Students testing in this window cannot attempt the second attempt until the Summer window).

Summer: July 1 - July 22 (Students testing in this window cannot attempt the second attempt until the Fall window).

**Please note: If testing is conducted during this window, there will not be an opportunity to complete a second attempt, if necessary, before school starts.

 

• The cost of a second attempt is not covered by the district.
• University of Texas High School and Texas Tech University ISD offer second attempt versions of their exams.
  • University of Texas High School Re-Exam Order Form    Do not enter a UT EID number.  This will be assigned to the student by UT.
  • Texas Tech University ISD  For this one, you will need to make sure you order Math 7A Online Set 2
•  We will still need to sign off on second attempts you will submit to UTHS or TTU. 
  • The UTHS application should be emailed to cbe@csisd.org for approval.  
  • For TTU everything will be online, please email cbe@csisd.org a request for approval of a second attempt.  Please do not order the test until you have received approval from our office. 
• You must have CSISD (counselor or district) approval for a second attempt to ensure credit will be awarded.  During the school year the sign off will come from your students counselor.  During the summer it will be done by our district office. 
• All second attempt tests must be completed within the CSISD approved testing window.
