Proof of Residency Requirements

ALL CSISD students are required to provide proof of residency each year during the registration process.

Under Texas Education Code §25.001 (b) (1), a student is entitled to admission to a school if the student and any of their parents reside in the CSISD school district. This section provides information on the necessary documents to help demonstrate residency requirements.

Important Information:

You will not be able to submit your student's registration without uploading this proof of residency documentation.
For secondary schools, students will not be able to pick up their schedules without a new proof of residency on file.
Returning students who are unable to produce documentation to verify residency in the College Station ISD attendance zone will be subject to withdrawal on Aug. 22, 2025. Residency requires living in the district and having the present intention to remain there.

You will be required to upload your new proof of residency during the online registration process as of the 2025-2026 school year. If you cannot provide the requested documents, please discuss this matter with your student's school.

Proof of Residency Requirements

Acceptable Proof of Residence:

In the name of the parent/guardian and dated within one month of submission:

Current gas, electricity, or water bill
Current Cable or DirectTV bill
Current WiFi or internet bill
Residential rental/lease agreement
Trash pick-up service bill
Dated connection notice (before the first bill has arrived)

Unacceptable Proof of Residence:

Mortgage statement
U.S. mail
Post office change of address
Credit card/bank statements
Personal taxes
Medical bills/insurance
Payroll checks
Auto insurance policy
Any proof older than 30 days

Important Notes:

Proof of Residency documents must be a full page (not cropped or a photo of an envelope).
Leases must be from the current year (old leases with auto-renewal statements are not acceptable) and must be dated through the first day of school.
CSISD checks residency based on the service address, not the mailing address.
Proof of Residency that is not in the parent/guardian’s name requires further paperwork (Power Of Attorney or Residency Affidavit) unless it is under a step-parent’s name (who is listed as a guardian in eSchool).
If you are building a home in the district, you must provide a contract that shows the parent/guardian name, address, and estimated completion date. We cannot accept a letter from the builder, it must be an actual contract.
If you cannot provide Proof of Residency because due to a temporary living arrangement (i.e. a homeless shelter), contact Patty Ayala, Director of State and Federal Programs, to fill out a Student Residency Questionnaire.

Residency and Guardianship Affidavits

If your child was registered under one of the circumstances below for the 2024-25 school year, you will be required to renew your residency and/or guardianship affidavits for the 2025-26 school year:

Temporary guardianship was granted from the student’s parents; or
You and your family lived temporarily with another family.

You may obtain the affidavits at your child’s campus or at our Student Services Office located at 1812 Welsh Ave. between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday. You must make arrangements to have your affidavit notarized at a location that provides notary services before submitting it to CSISD. Please call our office at 979-764-5415 if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you to renew and/or re-establish your student’s guardianship or residency.

Effective immediately, affidavits will no longer be notarized in the Student Services office. Affidavits must be notarized by a third-party notary. This change is being implemented to ensure that the notarization process is handled by authorized professionals outside of the district office.
