COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The College Station ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday, December 17.  The following discussions and actions are of note.

WORKSHOP

Discussion regarding opening participation for non-resident students for certain CTE programs at College View High School:  The board continued discussions regarding the possibility of opening the fire sciences career and technical program at College View High School to those high school students who live outside of CSISD attendance boundaries.

Currently, board policy stipulates that only students who reside within CSISD boundaries can attend CSISD schools, with the only exception being that of CSISD employees.

The discussion resulted in the board deciding to look at draft local board policy language that would allow students not-living within CSISD boundaries to enroll in CVHS full-time in order to participate in the fire science program. The language will be presented to the board in January for consideration.

REGULAR MEETING

Annual fiscal compliance report:  Shelby Lackey, a representative of Weaver gave a report on the annual financial and compliance audit for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2019.

The compliance audit resulted in an “unmodified opinion,” which is also considered a “clean audit.”  There was one finding resulting in a material weakness from a change in the way the district accounts for the liability for accrued wages.

The audited budget shows the district’s fund balance - or saving account - stands at $37,837,645.
