Both College Station ISD marching bands placed in the top three at the area competition this past weekend in Channelview to advance to 5A State Marching Band Contest.

The College Station High School Cougar Band placed second, while the A&M Consolidated High School Tiger Band placed third out of 13 competing bands.  Bands qualify for the area contest by earning a first division rating at the regional marching contest.

The top 33 5A marching bands will compete for the Texas UIL 5A State Marching Band title in San Anotnio’s Alamodome. The preliminary round will be held Monday, November 1.  A&M Consolidated performs at 10:15 a.m., while CSHS will take the field at 5:30.

The top 12 bands will advance to the finals, which will be held Tuesday, November 2.

The CSHS band is directed by Jon Seale and the Consol band is under the direction of Steve Fry.
