The second season of competition for College Station ISD e-Sports teams was highlighted by the College Station High School Varsity Rocket League team winning the PlayVS Texas State e-Sports Championship.

CSHS Varsity Rocket League Team members include Chris Cox, Alex Cox and Sam Moder.  The team finished the regular season ranked no. 1 in the state with a 24-0 record out of 167 total teams.  In addition, the team finished the year by sweeping through the playoffs to win the state championship.  With the win, the gamers qualified for the US Cup to be held June 7-12.

Several other CSISD teams made the playoffs this season, including the following:

Rocket League (167 total teams, top 64 teams advance to playoffs)

  • AMCHS Varsity: Jonathan Garcia, Zach Beavers, Tijae Johnson
    • ranked 35th in state and finished 26th in the playoffs

League of Legends (115 total teams, top 32 teams advance to playoffs)

  • AMCHS Varsity:  Will Stephenson, Christopher Kim, Jackson McPeck, Davis Xu, Zachary Trenary
    • ranked 11th in the state and finished 8th in the playoffs
  • CSHS Varsity: Joshua Szymanski, Joseph Laury, Darian Sam, Jim Doung, Alexander Wiggins, Jaden Joseph
    • ranked 23rd in the state and advanced to round of 32 in the playoffs.

Smite (14 teams, top 8 teams advance to playoffs)

  • CSHS Varsity: Lee Murphy, Darian Sam, Paulo Castaneda, Eve Walters, Josha Szymanski
    • ranked 5th in the state and finished 3rd in the playoffs.
  • CSHS Jr Varsity: Joseph Laury, Nike Liao, Juliet Rivera, Fan Kanetzky, Kale Whitechurch, Garret Stutts
    • ranked 2nd in the state and finished 4th in the playoffs.

Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate (68 teams, top 32 teams advance to playoffs)

  • CSHS Team A: Sasha Ostrovsky, Angelo Lombardo, Hayden Rodriquez
    • ranked 8th in the state and finished 5th in the playoffs
  • AMCHS Varsity:  Garett Gammill, Christian Smalley, James Szymczak
    • Ranked 11th in state and finished 8th in playoffs
  • CVHS Timberwolf Smash Team A:  Michael Sweet, Jake Weige, Seth Moore
    • ranked 13th in the state and advanced to playoffs
  • CSHS Team B: Hunter Voiter, Palmer Barrum, Jordan Carter
    • finished 16th in the playoffs
  • CSHS Team C: Wesley Bernshausen, Ty Cameron, Logan Harrison
    • finished 28th in the playoffs
