A total of 10 students from A&M Consolidated and College Station High Schools recently qualified for the National Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference by placing at the state competition.

The BPA National Leadership Conference will be held in Dallas, May 4-8, 2022.

BPA is an organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.

  • Advanced Spreadsheet Applications - Areeba Momin, CSHS
  • Business Law & Ethics - Gideon Ong, AMCHS
  • C++ Programming - Kayley Sze, AMCHS
  • Economic Research Team - Forest Lu, Gideon Ong, Abigail Wilson (AMCHS) - STATE CHAMPION
  • Fundamental Accounting - Erina Tejani, CSHS
  • Fundamental Word Processing - Adarsh Samnani, AMCHS
  • Intermediate Word Processing - Aymaan Momin, CSHS
  • Java Programming - Will Wang, AMCHS - STATE CHAMPION

In addition, nine students earned an alternate spot to nationals and will be called up should the national qualifiers in their event can not attend the competition.

The following Open Event Contests are tests that students can take for recognition but are not eligible for advancement to state competition.

  • Digital Marketing Concepts - Gideon Ong, AMCHS - 3rd Place
  • Financial Math & Analysis Concepts - Forest Lu, AMCHS - 4th Place
  • Information Technology Concepts - Will Wang, AMCHS - 1st Place
  • Information Technology Concepts - Nico Ladendorf, AMCHS - 3rd Place
  • Management, Marketing, Human Resource Concepts - Gideon Ong, AMCHS - 3rd Place
  • Medical Terminology Concepts - Areeba Momin, CSHS - 3rd Place

In addition to the contests students have the opportunity to participate in leadership activities at the conference and earn various other awards.

Both Amy Chae and Rebecca Kumar performed duties as Incoming Regional President and Outgoing Regional President, respectively.

Rachel Kumar, Rebecca Kumar, and Alina Maknojia all earned a Statesman Award, which is given to students who complete activities in leadership, service, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith and patriotism. Rebecca Kumar earned the Statesman of the Year Award for having the most points in Texas.

Emily Chen, Joseph Ha, and Abigail Yao served as voting delegates, while Sophia Aregullin, Evelin Cruz, Katie McCaskill, and Abby Wilson served as interns for the conference.

Areeba Momin earned a $1,000 scholarship and Boya Shi earned a $750 scholarship.

CSISD BPA advisors are Chenika Brooks, Terri Casto, Dawson Deere, Kathy Fisher and Dennis Rhodes.
