Current College Station ISD Interim Superintendent Mike Martindale was named the district’s Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent in a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees today.

Martindale became the Interim Superintendent on February 3 with the official departure of former Superintendent Dr. Clark Ealy, who left for the same position in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD.

By state law, a finalist for the superintendent position must complete a 21-day waiting period before officially being named the superintendent of schools.

Martindale has been the district’s deputy superintendent and CFO since January 2016.  Prior to that, he was the first principal at College Station High School and was responsible for the opening of the school in 2012.  Martindale was hired by CSISD in 2007 as the principal of Rock Prairie Elementary.

Martindale has twenty-nine years of experience in public education with six and a half years of central office experience, including his tenure as deputy superintendent and CFO in CSISD and serving as Superintendent of Schools in Florence ISD and Director of Secondary Education in Angleton ISD. 

Additionally, he has sixteen total years of principal experience from Angleton ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, and College Station ISD, where he has served at the elementary, intermediate, and high school levels.

He began his career in education as a math teacher at Angleton High School in 1991.

A 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University, Martindale earned his Bachelor of Science with teaching certifications in math and physical education.  In 1996, he earned his Master’s of Education in Administration from the University of Houston - Clear Lake.  In 2005, he received his Superintendent’s Certification from the University of Houston - Victoria.

Martindale's wife, Alicia, is a Spanish teacher at Wellborn Middle School.  He has three children: Jacob (Texas A&M Class of 2017), Ava, who  is a freshman at College Station High School and Cooper, a seventh grader at Wellborn Middle School.
