Purchases and construction projects have been authorized for fine arts, safety and security, deferred maintenance, career and technical education, student and staff technology devices, technology infrastructure and campus renovations.

Of the total bond program amount of $78.125 million, $10.5 million has been expended and $6.6 million has been committed.

This past summer, Southwood Valley Elementary and A&M Consolidated High School received Phase 1 of renovations of their respective campuses.

At Southwood Valley those renovations included relocating the principal’s office suite and new security vestibule, relocation and renovation of the kindergarten wing, and exterior renovations in the front of the building with new windows and masonry.  The rest of SWV will be renovated in Phase 2 in the summer of 2023.

The four-summer renovation at A&M Consolidated is the largest project in the 2021 Bond Package.  Phase 1 of renovations were completed this past summer and included approximately half the restrooms in the building and a new glass wall separating the cafeteria area and the gym area.

Phases 2, 3 and 4 will be completed the next three summers and will include new interior finishes and upgrades, paint, carpet, hard flooring, LED lighting, auditorium renovations, science wing renovations and fine arts renovations.

Safety improvements are also a significant part of the 2021 bond package.  Hardening of the security vestibules at all elementary and intermediate schools will begin late in the fall semester or early spring semester.

Renovations to Pebble Creek Elementary and Cypress Grove Intermediate will begin in the summers of 2023 and 2024, respectively, and construction of Phase 1 of the Career and Technical Education Center, located on South Dowling Road, is expected to begin late this fall.  Phase 1 of the CTE center is an agricultural barn for students to house show animals.

Finally, CSISD Natatorium renovations are set to begin in April 2023 for completion in the early fall of 2023.

While Accelerated Instruction is mandated by House Bill 4545, it does not have to be done in the summer.  The Summer Accelerated Instruction program offered by CSISD is an additional opportunity for students to jump start their learning prior to beginning the school year.

A total of 268 students took advantage of the opportunity in grades K-5, 235 in grades 5-6, 127 in grades 7-8, and 409 in grades 9-12.
