Candidate Questionnaire

List your participation in CSISD school and/or district parent clubs, volunteer organizations, business partnerships or committees (any years)

As Principal for twenty years at College Station Middle, I participated in all of these activities.

Include any other areas you have supported CSISD not included in the previous question:

For me it's been CSISD for twenty two years period.

List any local organizations in which you currently participate:

None at this time. Up until now I have spent my time helping administrators with their needs on their campuses.

Considering your background, skills, and talent, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?

I think I would bring a different prospective to the board in the sense that I grew up like a lot of our students. I am a product of a low socioeconomic household that's why I work as hard as I do for our students. We would just have to keep in mind that all means all no matter what part of town you live. All students can and will learn if put in the right situation.

What are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees?

The board is responsible for making sure that teachers have what they need to teach our students first and foremost. They are responsible for making sure our buildings are up to code, our teachers and students are safe everyday and our students taught a curriculum that they will use today and into the future.

What role does the Board play in contributing to student success?

Making sure that students have all the tools necessary to compete on a wide scale in every aspect of school life and life after high school. The competition for scholarships is fierce so we need to prepare them academically, vocationally and or for the military or workforce.

What are CSISD's strengths, and how would you continue to foster those strengths as a trustees?

I think the greatest strength I see in this board is the ability work closely together and come up with solutions that benefit the district the teachers and the students and that's what I want to be a part of.

What challenges does CSISD currently face, and what are the possible solutions to address those issues?
