2026-2027 Boundary Adjustments

The CSISD Board of Trustees received an update related to school capacities and attendance boundaries during the regular meeting on June 17, 2025. The focus is on balancing capacities at elementary, intermediate, and middle school capacities.

CSISD is seeking input from the community on the plans presented to the CSISD Board of Trustees on June 17, 2025. Members of the community may provide open-ended feedback on boundary adjustment plans at the following link through 11:59 p.m. on June 7, 2025.

The CSISD Board of Trustees held a special-called meeting to review key items prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year. During this meeting, updated plans for elementary and intermediate/middle school plans were introduced (ES Plans 6/7 and INT/MS Plan 5).

During the Aug. 19 workshop meeting, the District reviewed updated plans and the board had discussions on how to move forward with the current updates.

After months of study, discussion, and feedback, the District plans to recommend Elementary Plan 7 for approval at the Sept. 16 Board of Trustees meeting. At this time, no changes will be recommended for intermediate or middle school boundaries.

The CSISD Board of Trustees approved adjustments to elementary school attendance boundaries for the 2026-27 school year at its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 16.

As CSISD experienced fast-growth for many years, enrollment increased unevenly across elementary schools. Pebble Creek, Southwood Valley, and Spring Creek Elementary are projected to reach or exceed capacity by the 2025–2026 school year and remain over capacity for the next five years. In contrast, other elementary campuses are expected to have enrollment levels about 100 students below capacity during that same period.

No. The district is not proposing adjustments to high school attendance boundaries.

Yes. CSISD Board Policy FC (Local) details priorities for boundary adjustments, the first being to "provide a comparable demographic balance of students." In addition, the policy gives guidance on considering the percentage of economically disadvantaged students, with specific considerations for intermediate, middle, and high schools:

Excerpt from CSISD Board Policy FC (Local) – Comparable Composition:

The administration shall provide the Board with the current proportion of economically disadvantaged students at each school. 

For intermediate and middle schools, if there is a difference in the current proportion of economically disadvantaged students among the campuses on the same level that is equal to or greater than 15 percentage points, then such schools shall not be considered to have comparable composition. 

For intermediate and middle schools, if there is a difference in the proportion of economically disadvantaged students among campuses on the same level that is between ten and 15 percentage points, then the administration shall make recommendations to the Board about the actions to be taken, if any, to address issues created by such difference and to prevent the difference from increasing to the level that would be considered to cause a lack of comparable composition. 

For comprehensive high schools, if there is a difference in the current proportion of economically disadvantaged students between the campuses that is equal to or greater than 12 percentage points, then such schools shall not be considered to have comparable composition. 

For comprehensive high schools, if there is a difference in the proportion of economically disadvantaged students between campuses that is between seven and 12 percentage points, then the administration shall make recommendations to the Board about the actions to be taken, if any, to address issues created by such difference and to prevent the difference from increasing to the level that would be considered to cause a lack of comparable composition. 

When percentage point differences in economically disadvantaged students fall in the ten- to 15-point range for intermediate and middle schools or in the seven- to 12-point range for high schools, further study is warranted.

Yes. For the approved elementary plan (Plan 7), students K-3 will have the option to be grandfathered at their current elementary campus. Details will be provided to families via email, text, and the district website on how to submit interest for being grandfathered for the 2026-27 school year.

A recommendation was presented to the CSISD Board of Trustees on Sept. 16 for elementary schools to go into effect for the 2026-27 school year. The recommendation was unanimously approved by the Board.

The boundary adjustments will go into effect for the 2026-2027 school year.
